Jeremy Maclin Could Be In Line For Similar Contract To Mike Williams

Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that Mike Williams‘ recent contract extension could provide the basis for Jeremy Maclin‘s next contract.

  • Berman adds that Maclin does not seem inclined to sign an extension at this point.
  • Instead, Maclin reportedly believes his value will ascend this season.

Maclin, 25, is slightly younger than Williams has produced very similar numbers during his career to that of Williams. Maclin has played one more season than Williams, but their per-game and per-year numbers a staggeringly close.

Williams signed a six-year contract worth $40.25 million and includes $15 million guaranteed, which is actually pretty similar to what fellow Eagle DeSean Jackson received last year — five-years, $47 million, and $15 million guaranteed.

With Maclin prepared to play out the 2013 season, it will be interesting to see if he is capable of putting together a Pro-Bowl caliber season, which could allow him to surpass these figures on the open market.

We have Maclin listed as the No. 22 best available player in our Top 50 – 2014 Free Agents list.
