Jermichael Finley Unwilling To Take A Pay Cut To Remain In Green Bay

Packers TE Jermichael Finley was asked whether or not he would be willing to work with Green Bay if they were to approach him regarding a pay cut this offseason.

Finley doesn’t sound open to the idea at all.

“I’d have to walk for sure, meaning I couldn’t take a pay cut,” said Finley, via ESPN.com. “Maybe I’d restructure if it’s a deal that I like and it makes sense, but I’m not the guy that’s just going to sign anything and let anything pass. I’m not that guy.

He added that he’s yet to hear from the Packers at all this offseason.

Finley, 25, signed a  two-year deal worth $14 million last year and is set to make $8.25 million for the 2013 season. He has a $3 million roster bonus that’s due on March 27, so we should probably know more regarding whether or not he’ll be retained in the days leading up to this deadline.

Earlier in the week there was some speculation that the Chicago Bears could have interest in Finley if he becomes available. That could be enough in itself to persuade the Packers to keep Jermichael for another season.
