Jermichael Finley’s Career Over?

It’s been awhile since we got an update regarding Jermichael Finley and his neck injury, but former Packers TE Mark Chumra spoke with him recently regarding his progress.

According to Chumra, Finley is undergoing surgery this week and it’s likely that his career is over.

“I will give you a little snibbet,” Chmura said, via 540 ESPN Milwaukee. “I got a chance to talk to Jermichael Finley before the game, and I would bet my bottom dollar his career’s over.  Over.  He needs surgery, and it’s herniated in [the C3 and C4 vertebrae]. . . .  I think it’s gonna be a Nick Collins deal.  He’s definitely not gonna play in Green Bay, I’d put my house on that.

Since suffering the injury, Finley has remained positive about the situation and has said publicly that he intends to continue his career at some point in time.

The Packers placed him on season-ending injured reserve last week, which didn’t come as much of a surprise. If Finely does in fact have a similar injury to that of Nick Collins, then there is obviously a good chance that not only his done in Green Bay, but his NFL career may also be in jeopardy as well.

We’ll have to see if anyone is able to confirm this information provided by Chumra.

We have Finley listed as the No. 24 player in our Top 50 – 2014 Free Agents list.
