Jerry Jones Doesn’t Rule Out Trading A 2016 1st Rd Pick For The Right Player

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked about the possibility of trading a 2016 first-round pick to upgrade a position this year.

Interestingly enough, Jones didn’t rule out the possibility.

I’d be reluctant to, but certainly if the right situation came along that could improve us now, with where we are with Romo, his career and where we are with what we’ve put together, it’s a good time to go for it,” Jones said, via FOX Sports.

Up to this point, everything to come out of Dallas has been that they’re comfortable with their current group of running backs and they’re aren’t interested in parting with draft picks for veteran players.

Jones isn’t saying that this is something they’re currently considering, and we’re just talking about a hypothetical situation, but he could have stuck to what they’ve been saying and brushed the question aside.

Dallas has come up as a potential landing spot for Vikings RB Adrian Peterson, who is clearly not happy with his current situation in Minnesota. But the Vikings have maintained all along that trading Peterson is not a consideration and they are looking forward to having him as a part of their offense this season.

As things stand right now, the Cowboys have Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar and Ryan Williams on their roster at running back, so there’s still room to improve upon this group.

We’ll have more regarding the Cowboys as the news is available.

  1. If McFadden will change his running style they would be OK at the running back position. However, I feel that whatever happened to him (McFadden) be it injuries or what have you, he runs with too much caution and is very indecisive with the ball in his hands. If he can’t make it behind that Dallas Cowboy offensive line then he isn’t going to make it anywhere else. I can’t wait to see what Latavius Murray can do with a full season as the Raiders #1 running back.
