Jets Have Also Shopped CB Marcus Williams

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, the Jets have also shopped CB Marcus Williams around in potential trade deals this summer.

This comes after the news that the Jets are gauging trade interest in veteran RB Matt Forte (NFLTR).

Williams, 26, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State back in May of 2014. He was waived from the Texans’ practice squad a few weeks into the regular season before later signing on with the Jets.

Williams played out the final year of his three-year, $1.53 million contract before returning to the Jets on a one-year, $2.75-million restricted contract this offseason.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Williams would free up $2,746,000 of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2016, Williams appeared in 13 games for the Jets and recorded 33 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, a forced fumble and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 70 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding a potential Williams trade as the news is available.
