Patriots Re-Sign RB/KR Leon Washington

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the New England Patriots have re-signed RB Leon Washington.

The return of Washington to the Patriots comes from the team’s need to bring their roster up to 53 players. Washington had visited both the Giants and Jets before re-signing.

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports that veteran RB Leon Washington worked out for the Jets on Tuesday.

  • Washington also worked out for the Giants on Tuesday as well.

Washington, 31, was released by the Patriots not too long ago. He previously spent four years with the Jets, so this would be a reunion of sorts for him. New York could use some help at kick returner now that they’ve parted ways with Joe McKnight and Mike Goodson is suspended for the first four games of the season.

GM John Idzik was with the Seahawks when they brought Washington in, so he too is more than familiar with what Washington brings to the tabel.
