Jets Could Call Broncos About Trevor Siemian If Denver Sign Tony Romo?

Tom Pelissero of USA Today mentions that after surveying the quarterback market, he wouldn’t be surprised to see the Jets call the Broncos about QB Trevor Siemian if the Broncos end up signing Tony Romo in the coming weeks.

The Cowboys will reportedly release Romo on Thursday, and the plan is for him to visit with a few interested teams. The Broncos and Texans appear to be the most likely landing spots for Romo right now, so it’s actually possible that the Broncos could field trade offers for Siemian if they close the team with Romo.

The Jets were reportedly in the market for Brian Hoyer before he elected to sign with the 49ers earlier in the day. The Bears are in great position to land Mike Glennon and Tyrod Taylor agreed to a restructured deal with the Bills, so it appears as though quarterback options are drying up for New York.

Mike Klis of 9News previously mentioned that the Broncos figure to receive trade inquiries about Siemian if they end up signing Romo, so this isn’t the first we’ve heard about the idea.

Siemian, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Broncos back in 2015. He’s entering the third year of his four-year, $2.33 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Siemian appeared in 14 games for the Broncos and threw for 3,401 yards while completing 59.5 percent of his passes to go along with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 30 quarterback out of 34 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding a potential Siemian trade as the news is available.
