Jets CB Marcus Williams Out “Several” Weeks With High-Ankle Sprain

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Jets CB Marcus Williams has a high-ankle sprain and is expected to miss “several” weeks.

Williams was rolled up on from behind while trying to tackle Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi during Sunday’s game.

Williams, 25, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State back in May of 2014. He was waived from the Texans’ practice squad a few weeks into the regular season before later signing on with the Jets.

Williams is currently in the final year of his three-year, $1.53 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season. He will be a restricted free agent next year.

In 2016, Williams has appeared in nine games for the Jets and recorded 30 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 50 receiver out of 117 qualifying players.
