Jets Claim DE Tarell Basham Off Waivers From Colts

Ian Rapoport reports that the Jets have claimed DE Tarell Basham off of waivers from the Colts on Friday.

The Colts made the somewhat surprising decision to waive Basham before their Thursday night matchup with the Patriots, due to injuries issues.

One report said that the Colts were hoping to re-sign Basham had he cleared waivers.

Basham, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Colts back in 2017. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $3.35 million contract and set to make base salaries of $555,000 and $645,000 over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Basham appeared in 15 games for the Colts and recorded seven tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble. However, he’s been active for just one game in 2018 and has yet to record a statistic.
