Jets Claim WR Lucky Whitehead Off Waivers From Cowboys

The Jets have claimed WR Lucky Whitehead off of waivers from the Cowboys on Wednesday, according to Adam Schefter.

  • Pro Football Talk reports that the Bears, Colts, Chiefs, and Saints all expressed varying degrees of interest in Whitehead since he was cut.

The Cowboys still elected to move on from Whitehead, even though he had all charges dropped against him and the warrant for his arrest was rescinded in the recent legal matter that turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.

Whitehead, 25, signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic back in 2015. He’s currently in the final year of his three-year, $1.585 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Whitehead appeared in 15 games and caught three passes for 48 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also rushed for 82 yards on 10 carries to go along with 394 kick return yards and
