Jets Complete Interview With Jim Caldwell For HC Job

The New York Jets announced Monday that they’ve completed their interview with former Colts and Lions HC Jim Caldwell for their head-coaching vacancy.

The list of reported interviews for the Jets includes:

  1. Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy (Interviewed)
  2. Former Dolphins HC Adam Gase (Interviewed)
  3. Former Packers HC Mike McCarthy (Interviewed)
  4. Cowboys passing game coordinator/DBs coach Kris Richard (Interviewed)
  5. Former Lions & Colts HC Jim Caldwell (Interviewed)
  6. Buccaneers OC Todd Monken (Requested)
  7. Iowa State coach Matt Campbell (Declined)
  8. USC OC Kliff Kingsbury (Interested)
  9. Baylor HC Matt Rhule (Expected)

Cardwell has now interviewed with the Jets, Packers, Browns and Cardinals and has reportedly drawn interest from the Buccaneers.

Caldwell, 63, began his head coaching career with the Colts back in 2009 after taking over for Tony Dungy. He spent three years in charge of Indianapolis before he was fired after the 2011 season.

After a stint with the Ravens as their offensive coordinator, the Lions hired him as their head coach in 2015. Detroit made the decision to move on from Caldwell this past January.

During his seven years as a head coach for the Colts and Lions, Caldwell led them to a record of 62-50 (55.4 percent) which includes four playoff appearances and one trip to the AFC Championship game.
