Jets Could Have A New GM In Place By Thursday

Rich Cimini of the ESPN New York reports that league sources have informed him that the Jets could have a new GM in place by Thursday.

Seattle’s John Idzik and Pittsburgh’s Omar Khan are reportedly the front-runners for the job with Jets assistant GM Scott Cohen also in the running.

Both Idzik and Khan have interviewed twice already, but the Jets have had issues convincing candidates that the job is worth taking.

The Jets reportedly offered Dave Caldwell a $1 million housing allowance and that still wasn’t enough to convince him to take the job over the Jaguars’ GM position.

They have a terrible cap situation and are reportedly requiring candidates to keep head coach Rex Ryan in place for the 2013 season. On top of that, they don’t have a long-term quarterback prospect on their roster, so there will be a lot of pressure to solidify the position in the coming years.
