ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Seattle executive John Idzik is the “clear frontrunner” for the Jets’ general manager position.

Pittsburgh’s Omar Khan and Jets assistant GM Scott Cohen are also in consideration for the job.

Schefter adds that Idzik could be announced as the team’s next general manager at some point Thursday night.

The Jets have had a hard time finding serious candidates for the job given their current cap situation and the fact that ownership has requested that insisted that the new GM keep head coach Rex Ryan in place for the 2013 season.

We’ll have more on the topic as the news becomes available.
