The New York Jets announced that they have released six players on Sunday including veteran WR Jacoby Ford and CB Ras-I Dowling.
The Jets also released: WR Michael Campbell, TE Colin Anderson, FB Chad Young, and DE Anthony Grady.
Ford, 26, signed with the Jets in early April. He was a fourth-round pick of the Raiders out of Clemson back in 2010, but has yet to develop into a reliable weapon as a receiver. Last year, he appeared in 14 games for the Raiders and caught just 13 receptions for 99 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
Dowling, a former second-round pick of the Patriots, signed to the Jets practice squad in October of last year. He later signed a future/reserve contract in early January. However, he appeared to be on the chopping block, so this doesn’t come as a huge surprise.
