Jets Discussing Contract Extension With LB Erin Henderson

Dom Cosentino of NJ.com reports that the Jets and the representatives for LB Erin Henderson met Wednesday night at the Senior Bowl to begin negotiating a new contract.

Cosentino’s source said that the two sides are optimistic that a deal will get done in the coming months.

Henderson, 29, originally signed on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent back in 2008. He spent six years in Minnesota before signing on with the Jets as an unrestricted free agent in April of last year.

He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in March.

In 2015, Henderson appeared in all 16 games for the Jets and recorded 44 tackles and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has Henderson down for playing 232 total snaps for the Jets to go along with a solid rating of 7.8 in run defense.
