Jets Doing A Lot Of Work On QBs That Could Be Available In Round Two

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Jets continue to do a “lot of groundwork” on quarterback prospects who could be available in the late round one and early round two.

  • Rapoport specifically mentions that Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo are two players to keep an eye on in regards to the Jets.

Rapoport previously reported that the Jets are maintaining “regular contact” with quarterback prospects who could be drafted in round one.

Guys like Pittsburgh’s Tom Savage, Virginia Tech’s Logan Thomas and Clemson’s Tahj Boyd have also come up as potential targets for New York as well. However, it seems very likely that Thomas and Boyd would mid-to-late round options.

While the Jets may be keeping tabs on quarterback prospects, it seems unlikely that they would trade back into the first-round for someone.

The Jets signed veteran QB Michael Vick to a contract this offseason and it appears as though he’ll be backing up Geno Smith this year.

We’ll have more regarding the Jets as the news is available.
