Jets Expected To Promote Jeremy Bates To Offensive Coordinator

Adam Schefter reports that the Jets are expected to promote their QBs coach Jeremy Bates to offensive coordinator.

After the Jets fired John Morton last week, reports mentioned that Bates was the person to watch for the job, even though other coordinators such as Todd Haley and Cardinals OC Harold Goodwin were tossed out as potential options.

Bates reportedly had support within the Jets to take over their offense in 2018, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Bates, 41, began his NFL coaching career with the Buccaneers back in 2002 as an offensive quality control coach. He worked his way up to assistant QBs coach before departing for a job with the Jets.

Bates spent three seasons with the Broncos and eventually was hired by the Seahawks as their offensive coordinator for the 2010 season. Unfortunately, Bates lasted just one year as Seattle’s coordinator.

The Jets hired Bates as their QBs coach last year after he sat out of coaching for a number of years.
