Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that barring a late-season collapse where the Jets quit on HC Todd Bowles, the expectation is that Bowles will be retained for the 2017 season.
Meanwhile, Jason La Canfora reports that Jets owner Woody Johnson is not planning to make changes to the current regime and he instead prefers to maintain continuity, even though it’s been a really tough season.
New York is coming off of a disastrous performance against the Colts, but it sounds like unless the team continues to play that poorly, we’ll probably see Bowles back on the sidelines next year.
In 2015, the Jets surprised people by posting a 10-win season, but the team has really struggled on both sides of the ball this season and there are questions about the team’s overall talent.
Bowles, 52, was hired by the Jets last year after spending two years as the Cardinals’ defensive coordinator. He has led the Jets to a record of 13 and 15 and no playoff appearances.
