Jets Starting Bryce Petty At Quarterback Against Rams

Update:

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Jets are, in fact, starting QB Bryce Petty against the Rams.

The New York Jets are expected to start QB Bryce Petty in Week 10’s game against the Rams, according to Ian Rapoport.

Ed Werder of ESPN reported earlier in the week that Ryan Fitzpatrick believed he would be able to start this weekend, despite the recent sprained MCL he suffered but it appears as though that may have been overly optimistic.

By starting Petty, they’ll at least have an opportunity to evaluate what he can do with an opportunity in case they want to make him available for trade next year.

Petty, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jets back in May of last year. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $2,833,696 contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Petty has appeared in one game and completed both of his pass attempts for 19 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions.
