ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that the Jets are expected to sign veteran QB Josh Johnson after he worked out for the team on Thursday.

The Jets recently signed QB Matt Flynn to a contract, so this may imply that they’re not all that sold on him being their backup.

Johnson, 29, was recently cut loose by the Bengals, and is among the best available quarterback options.

The Bengals signed Johnson to a contract back in April, but they ultimately elected to move forward with A.J. McCarron as their backup quarterback.

Johnson hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2013 season while playing for the Bengals.
