Jets Officially Sign S Marcus Gilchrist To A Four-Year, $22M Deal

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports the Jets are finalizing a four-year contract with safety Marcus Gilchrist.

  • Rapoport confirmed the Jets signed Gilchrist to a four-year, $22 million contract with $10 million guaranteed.

Gilchrist reportedly visited with the team earlier in the week, and were also considering other free agent safeties like Ron Parker.

Gilchrist, 26, was drafted by the Chargers in the second round of the 2011 draft. He played out his four-year, $3,955,600 rookie contract that included $2,306,600 guaranteed and is in line for a decent raise.

Last year, appeared in all 16 games for San Diego and recorded 76 tackles, one sack, an interception, two forced fumbles and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has Gilchrist rated as the No.72 safety out of 87 qualifying players.
