Jets Haven’t Closed Door On Re-Signing CB Antonio Cromartie Or LB Calvin Pace

Jets HC Todd Bowles mentioned Saturday that the door isn’t closed on re-signing veteran LB Calvin Pace or CB Antonio Cromartie, per Kimberly A. Martin.

Neither players has generated much interest this offseason. However, it appears as though there’s at least a chance of them being back with the Jets, depending on how things go in the coming months.

Cromartie, 32, was in the second year of his four-year, $32 million contract that included $7 million guaranteed when he was released in a move that freed up $8 million in available cap space for the Jets.

In 2015, Cromartie appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded 29 tackles, a fumble recovery and 12 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 86 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.

Pace, 35, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2003. He played out his rookie contract in Arizona before signing on with the Jets as an unrestricted free agent in 2008.

Pace has spent the past eight years with the Jets, but his free agent market has been very limited this year.

In 2015, Pace appeared in all 16 games for the Jets and recorded 22 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, a recovery and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 80 edge defender out of 110 qualifying players.
