Jets Do Not Have Interest In Signing Terrell Owens

Gary Myers of the New York Daily News is reporting that sources have told him that the Jets no longer have interest in signing veteran free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens.

Myers sarcastic remark about the possibility of the Jets bringing back Don Maynard suggests they never really had any interest in even considering Owens as a potential fit with the team. During Rex Ryan’s press conference earlier in the day, Ryan said the Jets would look at all options, which is where the story started to grow legs.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he hasn’t ruled out the idea of signing free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens during his Tuesday press conference, per Rich Cimini

Last week, the Jets ruled out signing former wide receiver Plaxico Burress after Santonio Holmes was lost for the season with a Lisfranc injury. During Monday night’s loss to the Texans, Owens took to Twitter, pleading for the Jets to call his agent and sign him. The Jets are in the meat grinder in term of depth at wide receiver. While the idea is interesting, signing Owens doesn’t exactly make a lot of sense, considering that he wasn’t able to show the Seahawks much during the preseason. The Jets have already added Jason Hill and Clyde Gates, so it doesn’t seem likely that Owens will find a home with the Jets.
