Jets Hoping To Trade Down From No. 9 Overall?

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports that a league source has informed him that Jets GM John IdzikĀ has “sent out word” that they’re interested in trading out of the No. 9 spot in round one.

Cimini adds that the Jets would like to acquire some additional draft picks, which makes sense when you consider the number of roster holes they currently have.

Reports have indicated that a Darrelle Revis trade is close, which will almost certainly give them the No. 13 overall pick, but the additional selections include in the trade could end up being 2014 picks.

New York is believed to have interest inĀ LSU DE/OLBĀ Barkevious Mingo, so there’s still a chance they could stay at No. 9 and grab him. The ideal scenario would be to reach an agreement with a team who’s looking to move up for West Virginia QB Geno Smith, but it’s doubtful that anyone selecting after them in the first-round would be willing to move up for a quarterback.
