Jets Hosting LB Bruce Carter For A Visit

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are bringing in free agent LB Bruce Carter for a visit on Wednesday.

  • Rapoport adds that the Jets are continuing to look for more help at linebacker in the free agent market.

This if the first reported visit for Carter since he was cut just a day before free agency officially opened.

It’s worth mentioning that signing to a contract wouldn’t factor into a team’s 2017 compensatory picks.

Carter, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract before signing on with the Buccaneers in March of last year.

Carter was in the second year of his four-year, $17 million contract when he was released in a move that freed up $4,250,000 in available cap space for the Buccaneers right before the start of free agency.

In 2015, Carter appeared in 14 games and recorded 47 tackles, two sacks, and two pass defenses for the Buccaneers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 68 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
