Jets Interested In Free Agent WR Darrius Heyward-Bey?

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk has been informed that the New York Jets have interest in free agent WR Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Florio adds that it remains “unclear at this point whether Heyward-Bey has interest in the Jets.”

Over the weekend, Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted that they were in the process of working on a deal for a receiver and Heyward-Bey’s name was mentioned as a speculative option. Florio has confirmed that with a source that Heyward-Bey is not being targeted by the Colts.

There hasn’t been a lot of buzz surrounding Heyward-Bey since he was cut loose by the Raiders last week. New York could really use another receiver in their offense, but it’s hard to say what they’re getting with him at this point.

Heyward-Bey is only 26-year-old and has spent a number of years with a disappointing Raiders team, so there’s a chance he could be a quality addition in the right environment.

According to Pro Football Focus, Heyward-Bey has graded out as an above-average receiver the past two seasons. We have him listed as the No. 28 best available player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.
