Patriots Will Meet With S LaRon Landry On Friday

The Boston Herald reports that sources have informed them that the Patriots will bring S LaRon Landry in for a visit on Friday.

New England is believed to have serious interest in Landry who has been a pretty popular free agent despite the fact that he has a serious injury history to consider.

We have him listed as the #27 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports reports that the New England Patriots are interested in Redskins S LaRon Landry.

Previous reports have mentioned that Landry isn’t expected to be returning to Washington next season so you’d have to think that teams like the Patriots Jets, Bears, Eagles, and Lions all have a good shot at upgrading the safety position.

Landry is by far the best available player at the position.

According to Jason Cole from Yahoo, SS LaRon Landry will begin to schedule visits with teams soon.

Cole mentions that teams interested in Landry are the Jets, Bears, Eagles, and Lions.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer mentions that the Eagles “won’t sign” S LaRon Landry despite the previous reports that suggested that they may have interest in adding him to their secondary.

McLane specifically mentions Landry’s Achilles as being a concern for the team.

Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports reports that you can add the Eagles and Bears to the list of suitors for LaRon Landry.

Cole expects to see the Redskins try to keep but that could be really tough considering that there’s already decent market shaping up.

Rich Cimini ESPN New York expects to see the Jets target Redskins S LaRon Landry in free agency now that they actually have some cap space to work with.

Safety is without a doubt a position of need for the Jets as they’ve had a number of injuries to players in recent seasons. The problem with this idea is that Landry has an injury history of his own to be concerned with, as he’s currently rehabbing from a torn Achilles tendon. Still, Landry could end up being a steal for someone if he’s able to rebound from the injury. Talent is not the question with this guy.

  • Mikey Roederer

This is the one big free agent I don’t want the bears to go after..no doubt he would be an upgrade over our young safeties, but the money could be better spent finding a WR in free agency so we don’t have to rely on Floyd in the draft, and on finding a good LB to line up with Briggs and Urlacher…

I agree with you Mikey. Chicago needs better play in the secondary from their safeties but money goes much farther when spend on other positions. If the Bears make some smart moves, they could easily be contending next season.
