Jets Interviewing Mike McCarthy For HC Job Saturday

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Jets’ interview with former Packers HC Mike McCarthy for their head-coaching vacancy will take place on Saturday.

The list of reported interviews for the Jets includes:

  1. Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy (Interviewed)
  2. Former Dolphins HC Adam Gase (Interviewed)
  3. Cowboys passing game coordinator/DBs coach Kris Richard (Expected)
  4. Buccaneers OC Todd Monken (Requested)
  5. Former Lions & Colts HC Jim Caldwell (Expected)
  6. Iowa State coach Matt Campbell (Declined)
  7. Former Packers HC Mike McCarthy (Scheduled)
  8. USC OC Kliff Kingsbury (Expected)
  9. Baylor HC Matt Rhule (Interested)

McCarthy is also scheduled to meet with the Browns next week.

McCarthy, 55, began his NFL coaching career with the Chiefs back in 1993 as an offensive quality control coordinator. He bounced around with the Packers, Saints and 49ers before the Packers hired him as their head coach in 2006.

The Packers made the decision to move on from McCarthy following their disappointing loss to the Cardinals.

During his 13-year tenure in Green Bay, McCarthy has led the Packers to a record of 125-77-2 (61.8 percent), which includes nine playoff appearances and a Super Bowl title in 2010.
