Jets LB Lorenzo Mauldin Arrested For Misdemeanor Assault

TMZ Sports is reporting that Jets LB Lorenzo Mauldin has been arrested for misdemeanor assault for an alleged attack that occurred at New York nightclub back in April.

Mauldin reportedly turned himself in to into authorities Wednesday morning in Manhattan, according to TMZ. According to the report, Mauldin could face up to a year in jail if convicted. He scheduled to be back in court this August.

Mauldin is alleged to have punched a man in the face during an altercation a few months ago after the man spilled champagne on Mauldin.

The victim is also suing Mauldin as part of an additional criminal case after he suffered several broken bones in his face.

Mauldin, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Jets back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $3,008,016 contract and stands to make a base salary of $633,000 for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Mauldin appeared in 11 games for the Jets and recorded 16 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 82 edge defender out of 109 qualifying players.
