Adam Schefter, citing league sources, reports that the Jets are making “wholesale changes” to their defensive coaching staff starting Tuesday.

  • Ian Rapoport confirms that Jets HC Todd Bowles is weighing changes on both sides of the ball with OC Chan Gailey’s job being in doubt.
  • However, Rapoport says that DC Kacy Rodgers is expected to remain with the team, despite the impending changes.

The Jets’ defense did not live up to expectations in 2016 and while there’s been a lot of talk about potential offensive coaching changes, it appears as though the defense is in line to be revamped.

In 2016, the Jets’ defense ranked No. 29 in points scored, No. 12 in rushing yards allowed, No. 27 in passing yards allowed and No. 11 in total yards allowed.

We’ll have more regarding the specifics changes to the Jets’ coaching staff as the news is available.
