Jets Meeting With CBs Jason Verrett & Darqueze Dennard This Week

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets are hosting cornerbacks Jason Verrett (TCU) and Darqueze Dennard (TCU) this week.

  • Mehta also reported that the Jets will meet with a number of receiver prospects including USC WR Marqise Lee, LSU WR Odell Beckham Jr. and Oregon State WR Brandin Cooks as well.

Verrett has reportedly met with the Steelers, Falcons and Cardinals in recent weeks and could come off the board towards the end of round one.

He doesn’t offer much in terms of size, but evaluators have been impressed with his overall coverage ability, which could led to someone taking him in day one of the draft.

As for Dennard, he has reportedly met with the Steelers and Bengals and is widely considered to be one of the best cornerbacks in this year’s draft class. Even so, there remains a chance that he could be available to the Jets at No. 18 overall, but their interest in receivers could force them to pass on a cornerback, despite the fact that they could use some depth at the position.

We have both players being drafted in the first round of our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
