Steve Serby reports that Plaxico Burress will be meeting with the San Francisco 49ers later today and will meet with the New York Jets tomorrow.
The interest in Burress is really picking up in the last few days. San Francisco is in need of a wide receiver now that Michael Crabtree will be missing his third straight preseason. You could have made the argument that they needed another wideout even with Crabtree but as of now we haven’t heard to what extent Burress’s interest in the 49ers is.
ESPN’s James Walker writes that a source close to Burress mentioned that the he would like to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Seems as though everyone wants to join the Eagles.
Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the New York Jets are expected to turn their attention to make a “big pitch” for WR Plaxico Burress. Bouchette adds that Burress is “unlikely” to re-sign with the Giants.
The New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta also mentions that the Jets have interest in Burress.
So it appears to be down to the Steelers and Jets and of the two teams, the Jets can offer him the most playing time. It’s been reported that the Jets were considering Randy Moss but Burress could end up being a better option he ends up showing interest in him.
