Jets Officially Hire Mike Maccagnan As new General Manager

The New York Jets made it official and announced the hiring of Mike Maccagnan as their new general manager.

This news should come as no surprise given that Maccagnan was widely expected to land the position.

Maccagnan has been meeting with the team since late last week and has already sat in on head-coaching interview with the team.

The Jets hired consultants Ron Wolf and Charlie Casserly for their general manager search, and both men were very impressed with Maccagnan as a candidate.

According to Jeff Darlington of NFL Media, Maccagnan wasn’t just going to accept the job outright. He reportedly wanted to ensure that the scouting department would be sufficiently supported.

Darlington mentions that Maccagnan is known in league circles as a “true grinder” and respected as a cerebral, hard worker.

The next question for the Jets is who will be their new head coach.

Todd Bowles and Dan Quinn are both considered to be among the finalists for the position and Bowles is reportedly still meeting with the team.

We’ll have more updates as the news is available.
