Jets Officially Promote Jeremy Bates To Offensive Coordinator

The New York Jets announced Wednesday that they’ve officially promoted Jeremy Bates as their new offensive coordinator, per Rich Cimini.

The Jets also hired Rick Dennison as their new offensive coach/running-game coordinator and Steven Jackson as their assistant DB coach.

Reports surfaced close to a month ago that Bates was likely going to take over as the Jets’ offensive coordinator, replacing John Morton, who was let go. However, the Jets waited until now to make the move official.

Bates reportedly had support within the Jets to take over their offense in 2018, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Bates, 41, began his NFL coaching career with the Buccaneers back in 2002 as an offensive quality control coach. He worked his way up to assistant QBs coach before departing for a job with the Jets.

Bates spent three seasons with the Broncos and eventually was hired by the Seahawks as their offensive coordinator for the 2010 season. Unfortunately, Bates lasted just one year as Seattle’s coordinator.

The Jets hired Bates as their QBs coach last year after he sat out of coaching for a number of years.
