Jets Open To Trading QB Teddy Bridgewater

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, the Jets are open to trading QB Teddy Bridgewater, but a deal hinges on a few factors including whether there’s a market for him.

As of now, Cimini says the is now, but this could obviously change if another suffers an injury at quarterback during the preseason.

If first-round QB Sam Darnold is able to win the Jets’ starting job outright, Cimini believes New York could deem Bridgewater expendable, considering that they would be paying him to be their No. 2 or No. 3 option.

Bridgewater worked his way back from a major knee injury last year, but there’s still some question about him his knee moving forward.

Bridgewater, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $6,849,502 rookie contract after Minnesota declined to pick up his fifth-year option.

Bridgewater signed a one-year, $6 million contract with the Jets this offseason that includes just $500,000 guaranteed, so it wouldn’t be difficult for New York to move on in the coming months.

In 2017, Bridgewater appeared in one game for the Vikings and was 0-2 passing and threw an interception.

We’ll have more regarding the Jets and Bridgewater as the news is available.
