Jets Place RB Matt Forte On Injured Reserve, Promote DB Bryson Keeton

The New York Jets announced Friday that they’ve placed veteran RB Matt Forte on injured reserve and promoted DB Bryson Keeton to their active roster.

Forte, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Bears back in in 2008. After eight years in Chicago, Forte signed a three-year, $12 million contract that included $8 million guaranteed with the Jets this past March.

Forte stands to make base salaries of $4 million and $3 million over the remainder of the contract.

In 2016, Forte appeared in 14 games for the Jets and rushed for 813 yards on 218 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with 30 receptions for 263 yards receiving and eight total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 18 running back out of 54 qualifying players.
