Jets Place TE Neal Sterling On Injured Reserve

The New York Jets announced Saturday that they’ve placed TE Neal Sterling on injured reserve to make room for QB Davis Webb, who has been promoted to their active roster.

Sterling, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and later signed to the team’s practice squad, but he managed to make the 53-man roster last year.

Sterling had brief stints with the Jets and Chiefs before New York elected to sign him off the Chiefs’ practice squad last year. The Jets brought him back on a one-year restricted tender worth $1.907 for the 2018 season.

In 2018, Sterling appeared in five games and caught six passes for 47 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
