Jets Placing CB Dee Milliner On Short-Term I.R.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are placing CB Dee Milliner on injured reserve with the designation to return.

This means Milliner will miss at least eight games of the season, but can return for the team’s Week 9 match up.

Milliner sustained a wrist injury earlier in the summer that required surgery. The former first-round pick was expected to be out 6-8 weeks following surgery.

Milliner, 23, is entering the third year of his four-year, $12.66 million rookie contract that included a $7.59 million signing bonus. He stands to make a base salary of $585,000 for the 2015 season and another $675,000 next year.

The Jets will need to decide whether or not to pick up his fifth-year option next April.

In 2014, Milliner appeared in just three games for the Jets and recorded six tackles and two pass defenses after he sustained a season-ending Achilles injury.
