Jets Planning To Hire Saints WRs Coach John Morton As New Offensive Coordinator

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Jets are planning to hire Saints WR coach John Morton as their new offensive coordinator.

The Jets interviewed just two candidates for their offensive coordinator including Morton and former Texans OC George Godsey. It appeared as though the Jets could be waiting to interview more candidates for the job, but it looks like they’ve settled on Morton to run their offense in 2017.

Morton, 47, began his NFL coaching career with the Raiders back in 2002 as an offensive assistant/tight ends coach.

He later joined the Saints as an offensive assistant in 2006 before departing to join the USC coaching staff as their WRs coach. Afer five years at USC, Morton joined Jim Harbaugh’s staff with the 49ers as his receivers coach. Since then, Morton has been working with the Saints and coaching their receivers.
