Jets Release Veteran K Nick Folk

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Jets are planning to release veteran K Nick Folk on Thursday.

The Jets have already confirmed the move.

Folk, 32, was entering the final year of his four-year, $12 million contract that included $2.1 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $3 million for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Folk will free up $3 million of available cap space while creating $593,334 in dead money.

In 2016, Folk appeared in all 16 games for the Jets and converted 27 of 31 field goal attempts (87.1 percent) to go along with 24 of 26 extra point tries and 39 touchbacks.
