Jets Planning To Fire HC Todd Bowles, Potential Candidates Include Mike McCarthy & Jim Caldwell

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are planning to fire HC Todd Bowles after Sunday’s game.

Rapoport says that Mike McCarthy and Jim Caldwell figure to be among the candidates to watch for the Jets job.

Reports have said for months now that Bowles is likely to be replaced after the season, so this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

The Jets are, however, expected to retain GM Mike Maccagnan.

Bowles, 54, began his NFL coaching career with the Packers back in 1995 as a player personnel staff member before working for a number of teams including the Jets, Browns, Cowboys, Dolphins, Eagles and Cardinals.

The Jets hired Bowles as their head coach for the 2015 season and signed him to an extension last through 2020 last year.

During his four years as Jets’ head coach, Bowles has led the team to a record of 24-39 (38.1 percent) and no playoff appearances.

We’ll have more regarding Bowles as the news is available.
