The New York Jets announced Saturday that they have promoted OLB Freddie Bishop from their practice squad to the active roster.
Bishop, 27, originally signed on with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan back in 2013. He lasted just over a month in Detroit before he was waived.
Bishop later joined the Calgary Stampeders and played there for three seasons in the CFL before the Jets signed him to a contract last February. He was on and off of their active roster last season but was waived and signed to their practice squad at the end of the preseason.
The Jets promoted him to their active roster for Week 2 but waived him to make room for DE David Bass.
In 2016, Bishop appeared in four games and recorded nine tackles, no sacks and a pass defense.
