Jets QB Josh McCown In Line To Earn Huge Incentives This Year

Jason La Canfora points out that Jets veteran QB Josh McCown, who has had a strong than anticipated start to the 2017 season, is already nearing some significant paydays.

McCown’s contract includes $125,000 in per-week bonuses for each game he plays in and he’ll be halfway to towards earning the full amount following today’s game against the Jaguars.

Beyond that, McCown would make $1 million if he makes an eighth start to go along with another $125,000 for each week after that.

La Canfora says that the expectation was for McCown to make way for either Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg at some point this year, but the Jets may actually have a shot at winning a few more games with the Jaguars and Browns coming up.

McCown, 38, signed a one-year, $6 million contract with the Jets as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2017, McCown has thrown for 602 yards while completing 69.8 percent of his passes to go along with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 16 quarterback out of 32 qualifying players.
