According to Ian Rapoport, Jets RB Elijah McGuire suffered a fracture in his foot during practice that is going to require surgery and will force him to miss an extended period of time.

Rapoport says that McGuire could be a candidate to return from injured reserve, depending on how long he’ll be out.

This explains why the Jets are hosting veteran RB Alfred Morris for a visit on Saturday (NFLTR).

McGuire, 24, is a former sixth-round pick of the Jets back in 2017. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $2.66 million contract and set to make a base salary of $555,000 for the 2018 season.

In 2017, McGuire appeared in all 16 games for the Jets and rushed for 315 yards on 88 carries (3.6 YPC) to go along with 17 receptions for 177 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
