Jets RB Matt Forte Has Torn Meniscus, Still Hoping To Play In Week 15

Jets RB Matt Forte tells Rich Cimini of ESPN that a recent MRI on his knee revealed he has a torn meniscus. Forte suspects he’s been playing with the meniscus tear all season but he’s still hoping to play in the Jets’ Week 15 game against the Dolphins.

  • Jets HC Todd Bowles said that Forte will likely be a game-time decision.

Forte, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Bears back in in 2008. After eight years in Chicago, Forte signed a three-year, $12 million contract that included $8 million guaranteed with the Jets this past March.

Forte stands to make base salaries of $4 million and $3 million over the remainder of the contract.

In 2016, Forte has appeared in 13 games for the Jets and rushed for 792 yards on 214 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with 29 receptions for 256 yards receiving and eight total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 17 running back out of 52 qualifying players.
