Jets Re-Sign RFA S Rontez Miles & TE Neal Sterling

The New York Jets announced Monday that restricted free agent S Rontez Miles and TE Neal Sterling have both signed their one-year tenders for the 2018 season.

New York placed the original-round restricted tender on both players, which will cost them $1.907 for the 2018 season.

Miles, 29, wound up signing on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of California (PA) back in 2013. He was on and off of the Jets’ roster over first three years with the team before managing to spend the last two years on the 53-man unit.

In 2017, Miles appeared in 13 games for the Jets and recorded 25 tackles and no interceptions or pass defenses.

Sterling, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and later signed to the team’s practice squad, but he managed to make the 53-man roster last year.

The Jets signed Sterling to a contract after the Jaguars waived him coming out of the preseason. However, he was cut loose and later signed on to the Chiefs’ practice squad. New York elected to re-sign him off the Chiefs’ practice squad shortly after.

In 2017, Sterling appeared in 11 games and caught six passes for 82 yards and no touchdowns.
