Jets Release DL Courtney Upshaw

The New York Jets announced Saturday that they’ve released veteran DE Courtney Upshaw to a make room for DL Shaneil Jenkins, who was signed to a contract.

The Jets just placed Upshaw on the non-football injury list Friday, but it looks like they were prepared to move on from him.

Upshaw, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Ravens back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with the team before signing a one-year contract with the Falcons in 2016.

Last year, the Falcons brought Upshaw back on another one-year deal. He signed with the Jets last month as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2017, Upshaw appeared in 13 games for the Falcons and recorded nine tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.
