Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Jets are releasing LB Bruce Carter on Sunday.
Carter, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract before signing a four-year, $17 million contract with the Buccaneers in March of 2015.
The Buccaneers elected to cut him loose in March of last year and he eventually signed a one-year contract with the Jets. New York brought him back this past March.
In 2016, Carter appeared in 13 games for the Jets and recorded 16 tackles, no sacks or interceptions and one pass defense.
