Jets Release TE Jeff Cumberland, Pick Up $1.9M In Cap Room

The New York Jets have released TE Jeff Cumberland on Wednesday, according to Manish Mehta.

Cumberland, 28, was in the final year of his  three-year, $5.7 million contract that included an initial roster bonus of $1 million. He was set to make a base salary of $1.9 million for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing will free up $1.9 million in available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2015, Cumberland appeared in 15 games and recorded five receptions for 77 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
