Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Jets have released veteran CB Dimitri Patterson.

This comes just a few days after the Jets announced that they suspended Patterson for the remainder of the preseason.

Patterson publicly denied that he skipped the Jets third preseason game because he was upset with the depth chart, which had been previously reported. However, it appears as though the Jets would rather move in a different direction, despite their need at corner.

Patterson, 30, was cut loose by the Dolphins earlier in the offseason. The Jets signed him to a one-year contract worth $3 million back in April.

Last year, Miami placed him on season-ending injured reserve with a groin injury back in December. He totaled 19 tackles, one sack and four interceptions for the Dolphins last season.
